The Cooperstown Community Activities Authority (CCAA) offers youth alternative programs focusing on health and education. Six AmeriCorps members serve in one after school program, one childcare facility and one community gym. Additionally, the AmeriCorps members leverage 40 additional volunteers. The goals of the program include guiding children to academic improvement through healthy behavior and effective study habits, as well as strengthening early childhood developmental areas such as social, emotional, physical, and cognitive and language development. Statewide North Dakota Reading & Math Program
North Dakota Reading Corps is an initiative to help every ND child become a successful reader by the end of third grade. North Dakota Math Corps strengthens math skills for grades Kindergarten – 3rd grade, and 4th –- 8th grade. Reading and Math Corps combines the power of national service with the literacy and math science of how children learn to read and become fluent in math skills. The program places AmeriCorps members as literacy and math tutors in North Dakota school districts to implement research-based early literacy and math efforts for students who are struggling with academics. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students who are below proficiency in reading or math. Reading and Math Corps tutors serve 17-22 hours per week during the school year. Tutors can start in September, October, or December. Tutors receive training on the literacy or math interventions used in the program and receive monthly coaching support. Tutors can also earn an education award at the end of a successful service year.

20 AmeriCorps members serve in community organizations across North Dakota. The AmeriCorps members are responsible for strengthening communities by increasing capacity of North Dakota's public and nonprofit organizations. Jamestown Parks and Recreation
Eight AmeriCorps members deliver a nine –week summer youth mentorship program. The Healthy Connections Summer Parks program is located in Jamestown, N.D.It is held at the neighborhood parks of Meidinger, Nickeus and Leapaldt as well as Two Rivers Activity Center. AmeriCorps members mentor the youth providing a positive environment, guidance and education for our youth on healthy choices and relationships. Along with Community Partners our goals are to show 80% of the participants demonstrating improved knowledge of healthy behaviors and relationships. In addition, the AmeriCorps members leverage eight volunteers, who will also be engaged in youth development programming. Healthy Connection provides our members an opportunity to strengthen confidence, plus develop leadership and communication skills. This program focuses on Education and Healthy Futures. The Healthy Connections Summer Parks Program is for children 6- 12 years old to attend. Through the support of AmeriCorps, Strengthen ND assists North Dakota communities to access the people-power they need to undertake community projects by providing individuals to build their community’s capacity. Community Capacity AmeriCorps Coordinator positions will allow local organizations, city, and county governments, and other non-profit organizations to plan, develop, and coordinate programs within their regions for the betterment of their communities. AmeriCorps members’ duties may include communications/community outreach, planning programming for organizations and other community partners, assisting in information gathering for grant writing, attending planning meetings related to capacity building of the organization/community, and recruiting community volunteers. Sanford Health Care, Dickinson
AmeriCorps members serve as Check & Connect Mentors in Stark County High Schools and Adult Education Programs, extending to the counties of Billings, Golden Valley, Slope, Bowman, Hettinger, Adams and Dunn as the need arises and the program expands. AmeriCorps members are responsible for establishing relationships and mentoring youth and young adults who might otherwise fall through the cracks of the school system, with the goal of improving graduation rates through additional support.
