The tourism and marketing division provides a unique value to destinations and businesses by focusing on growing the tourism economy in North Dakota. BY executing key programs to support the core mission to increase travel to and within North Dakota and improve general awareness of our state. This awareness, improved mainly through tourism advertising, greatly improves the likelihood of a visit, and a visit greatly improves the likelihood of longer term involvement in North Dakota, like a move or new business venture.
The North Dakota Tourism and marketing Division uses research to strategically analyze visitor activity, interest, market share, target markets, advertising effectiveness (ROI) and more. Internal efforts are complemented by national and international research provided by the U.S. Travel Association and contracted vendors.
Our strategic priorities are developed based on this insight and in collaboration with our industry partners and interested community leaders.
A survey was distributed late 2021 and focused on Tourism & Marketing Division's mission and how it aligned with the state's needs and Tourism & Marketing Division's five areas of strategic focus, as well as regional tourism gaps and opportunities. The summary of the findings, will be augmented with input from stakeholders at the annual travel industry conference and regional convenings.
