The North Dakota Department of Commerce today announced five projects totaling $1,495,763 were awarded AmeriCorps funding.

"AmeriCorps is committed to addressing the needs of communities throughout North Dakota," said Commerce Workforce Director Katie Ralston Howe. "I am pleased to unveil additional funding aimed at enhancing the contributions of AmeriCorps members across the state and extend my gratitude to all past, present, and future AmeriCorps members for their unwavering dedication."

2023-2024 AmeriCorps Grant Recipients:

  • Cooperstown Community Activities was awarded $91,949 in federal funds providing $92,792 in matching funds for 8 AmeriCorps members to provide service in education and healthy futures.
  • Jamestown Parks and Recreation was awarded $43,422 in federal funds providing $26,615 in matching funds for 10 AmeriCorps members to provide service in the area parks throughout the summer.
  • Souris Basin Planning Council was awarded $175,087 in federal funds providing $75,037 in matching funds for 15 AmeriCorps Members to provide capacity building for local non-profits.
  • Strengthen ND was awarded $340,750 in federal funds providing $162,523 in matching funds for 39 AmeriCorps Members to provide capacity building for local non-profits.
  • United Way of Cass and Clay was awarded $126,085 in federal funds providing $43,914 in matching funds for 12 AmeriCorps Members to provide Education, Employment, and English Learning.
  • South East Education Cooperative Reading and Math Corps was awarded $695,970 in federal funds providing $504,851 in matching funds for 85 AmeriCorps members to provide service in reading and math.
  • South East Education Cooperative Educator Corps was awarded $22,500 in federal funds providing for 22 AmeriCorps members to provide service in early childhood education. 

Since 1994 more than 2,500 North Dakota residents have served more than 2.8 million hours of community service in North Dakota. Additionally, AmeriCorps members leveraged additional volunteers who assisted AmeriCorps programs with sponsored activities and projects. It is expected that approximately 191 North Dakota residents will serve as AmeriCorps members during the 2023-24 project year.
