APUC to Review Funding Requests Totaling $1,204,865

Bismarck, N.D. -- The North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission (APUC) will review funding requests for 15 projects totaling $1,204,865 at its quarterly meeting July 23 and 24 in Medora.

APUC is a program of the North Dakota Department of Commerce that administers grant programs for research and development of new and expanded uses for North Dakota agricultural products. The grants can be used for basic and applied research, marketing and utilization, farm diversification, nature-based agritourism, prototype and technology and technical assistance.

The following requests will be reviewed:

Rural Economic Area Partnership Investment Fund (Dickinson) is requesting $116,000 to conduct preliminary architectural, engineering, distribution/marketing studies to guide building a vertical farm in North Dakota. Contact Shirley Brentrup at (701) 483-1447.

Ridl's Country Fixins (Belfield) is requesting $32,603 to design and build a custom exempt/state inspection meat processing room. Contact Clint Ridl at (701) 575-2024.

Rivers Edge Energy (Trenton) is requesting $85,000 to hire a consultant to conduct a feasibility study and develop a business plan for the purpose to build a 20-million-gallon ethanol facility in North Dakota. Contact Ken Kjos at (701) 572-3530.

NDSU - Coatings and Polymeric Materials (Fargo) is requesting $55,124 to conduct a feasibility study of using free radical polymerization of monomers developed from oil-seed crops in personal care products. Contact Andriy Voronov at (701) 231-9563.
